Man and Machine
Rhubarb Seating was approached by Man and Machine, a leading company in CAD, CAM & BIM training solutions, to transform their workspace. We initially worked with them in 2020, to replace the task seating in their open plan office space. As part of their continued project to refresh their working environment, we were asked to provide task seating for meeting areas and soft seating for both the main reception area and the employee break-out space.
The Challenge
To deliver:
- Task seating for an open plan office area, taking into consideration requirements for comfort and ergonomics, as employees spend long periods working at their desks.
- Stylish task seating for two large meeting suites, as well as smaller meeting rooms.
- Ergonomic stools and Tech Chairs appropriate for use with sit-stand desking.
- Contemporary and welcoming reception seating in brand colours.
- Comfortable, robust, and easy to clean soft seating suitable for a staff kitchen/dining environment in brand colours.
- Work with the client to plan deliveries around the redecorating schedule.
Project Scope
Working closely with Sarah Evered, the Operations Director, we demonstrated the different task seating options available, taking into consideration comfort and functionality. Our Maran mesh back chairs were selected for the flexibility of movement due to the body-balance syncro mechanism, and the improved ventilation and air flow through the mesh back support, keeping users cool and comfortable. Our wobble stools are height adjustable making them a great pairing with the sit-stand desks. Ergonomically designed they allow movement and support posture making them an ideal choice for active seating. Our upholstered Tech Chairs provided the support and height the client required for use at high level desking.
For the meeting spaces, we provided Taryn cantilever and swivel chairs, with the chrome and black faux leather presenting a professional and stylish aesthetic. For the reception area, the simple yet contemporary style of our Rama tub chair and 2-seater sofa in the client’s accent brand colour orange, creates a welcoming environment and invites visitors into the space. Our modular and versatile Zeta range enabled us to maximise the space in the kitchen area, providing a seating configuration that invites employees to relax and come together during a coffee break.
How we Delivered
The comfort and style of the furniture for this project was of key importance to the client, and so the advantage of working with us was that the team could visit our local showroom to try out different models and look at samples, involving key members of the project team in the decision making process. The fabric selection for the different soft seating configurations ensured we were able to recommend suitable options, with Panaz Highland Silver and Panaz Alba Burnt Orange being chosen to reflect the client’s brand colours, as well as for the fabric’s antimicrobial, waterproof and stain resistant properties. We worked with the client to accommodate deliveries around their redecorating schedule.
