The Delaunay's Story
Originating from a client's simple sketch, the art deco inspired Delaunay is a sleek and sophisticated sofa designed originally to mirror the curve of a client's circular rug.
It is now a design-led statement sofa in our portfolio of seating, made in our factory in Oxfordshire, and its popularity has seen it occupy spaces from the prestigious Berkeley Homes Group Snow Hill Wharf reception lounge to the stylish Koplus UK showroom in London's Clerkenwell design district.
From Concept to Prototype
Having our own skilled and experienced in-house team of product designers, upholsterers, and joiners, enables us to control our own production processes from end to end and create bespoke designs that match our client's exact requirements.
Commenting on the original design concept, Filipe Oliveira, Head of Projects & Design, said:
“The client wanted the contour of the sofa to curve in symmetry with a circular rug and coffee table and produced a sketch for what they had in mind. Affectionately nicknamed ‘the jellybean,’ I used our CAD software to play with the design idea and achieve a curved structure that would aesthetically meet the brief and would also form the base of a sturdy frame to support the seating unit. This was the early stage of the product development process to allow the client to conceptualise the design and to permit us to optimise the technicalities of construction.”

The Delaunay’s core structure is made from FSC® timber, an internationally recognised certification that the wood comes from an ethical, sustainable, and responsible source. As well as its eye-catching look, The Delaunay offers ultimate comfort with high density foams on the seat and back. The design of the curved back rail ensures relaxing support for those sitting or reclining on the sofa.
