Intro:
Rhubarb Seating has a long-standing partnership with Ferco Seating Systems, one of the world's largest manufacturers of auditorium, cinema, education, and sports spectator seating. They approached us regarding a project they were working on with Olympic Cinema. We worked with the client to understand their brief for The Members Club, a private lounge area for The Club in the Power Station, Battersea. Hidden away next to the cinema, the space now houses a relaxed and luxurious bar and dining room for members to eat, drink, socialise, and relax. We were asked to design bespoke banquette seating to maximise the space, provide a cosy and private escape for members, and compliment the high quality and opulent look and feel of the club.

- Quality, comfortable, and robust seating that withstands the challenges of a dining environment, whilst complimenting the luxurious look and feel of the club.
- On time to a very tight deadline to meet the client’s soft opening date and plan the installation around other third parties working on site.
Project Scope:
Working closely with Lisa Burdge, Co-Owner of Olympic Studios, our Head of Design, Filipe Oliveira, further developed the original drawings of the banquette configuration provided by the project design team, taking into consideration comfort and functionality. The modularity of the design enabled us to maximise the space in the club area, providing a sleek and contemporary curved seating style that invites members to relax and come together to socialise. The wooden support plinths created a natural aesthetic, and we worked with on-site electricians to ensure the wiring for the plinth power sockets aligned cohesively. We discussed leather options and provided swatches, with the client selecting Crest Cromwell-Sahara, a beautiful full grain aniline leather, with a soft finish. Retaining its natural characteristics, the leather hide with its neutral and warm colour palette offers a timeless and sophisticated look, with luxury comfort and durability.
How we delivered:
The comfort and style of the furniture for this project was of key importance to the client, and so the advantage of working with us was our in-house design and manufacturing capabilities, which allowed us to talk through the drawings, fine tune production, advise on finishes, and manufacture and deliver to the client’s tight deadline. Our expertise in seating, alongside our bespoke design and upholstery skills, meant we could overcome the challenges of maintaining a consistent seam line across multiple curved modular units, and ensure a high-quality finish. We accommodated room layout changes and specific delivery slots to the listed building’s designated loading bay. We liaised with the client to accommodate installation around other third parties working on-site.
