There is a lot of talk about circularity and the circular economy these days so we thought it was worth explaining the Rhubarb approach to this critical aspect of sustainability.

All our furniture is designed and manufactured with second life and beyond front of mind. That means we give careful consideration to every element of both design and construction to ensure that as foams and fabrics start showing wear and tear, the units can easily be stripped and completely refurbished. And by changing stitching lines, colours and textures, any items can be given a new look as well as a new lease of life.

We offer a Take Back Scheme for both our own furniture and that of other manufacturers so that your seating can be refurbished rather than replaced. There has only been one chair so far that has proved impossible to re-upholster because it could not be taken apart without breaking it. Other than that, we have had chairs, sofas, armchairs, task chairs, lounge chairs, banquette, wall panels – every type of seating and upholstered item – through our factory and nothing else has defeated us.
